EDINBURGH SEASON NOW FINISHED! THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME AND SUPPORTED US!
Certified Male Synopsis
Certified Male is a 90 minute play with four actors and a piano player. It tells the story of four consultants who visit a topical resort to discuss the company’s restructuring.
It is an accessible, contemporary theatre work that explores hilarious themes like mortality, violence, nihilism, relationships that prove emotionally hollow, sporting bravado, the absent father and powerlessness in the workplace.
Alex, Howard and McBride leave the safety of their comfortable offices and £1,000 suits and set off to a tropical island paradise for a weekend of brainstorming. Jarrad, the boss has told them the company will be restructured, the underlying implication is that one of them will not be returning to work on Monday.
“Simply electric…unforgetable…energetic, affectionate and insightful…so true to life it’s frightening” - Herald Sun
A sumptuous theatrical blend of brilliant dialogue, riotous comedy and unique staging with 7 original songs by Paul Kelly, Mark Seymour, Paul Norton and others.
Certified Male makes its long-awaited UK debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, eight years since it unexpectedly became the hit (honest) of the Melbourne Festival of Arts.
